Original Oil Painting by Lillian Gray

Where the Water Holds the Light captures a quiet moment beside the water, where darkness and light meet.

Perched on a weathered branch, a kingfisher watches the water below. Its brilliant cobalt and turquoise feathers contrast with the warm copper, amber and orange of its breast, while fine details reveal the intricate beauty of its plumage.

Beyond the bird, soft circles of golden light dissolve into the darkness, their reflections stretching across the water in loose, expressive brushstrokes. The combination of carefully observed detail and impressionistic surroundings creates a sense of depth, stillness and quiet anticipation.

Painted in oils, the artwork celebrates the extraordinary beauty found in ordinary moments in nature.
