Additionally, she is a popular speaker, sharing her insights through guest lectures and public events.

Believing in the importance of lifelong learning, Lillian remains committed to staying relevant and thriving in her artistic journey. Her practice is adaptive, inventive, and engaging; she continuously explores and hones her techniques. 

Inspired by the stories of individuals, Lillian’s art often revolves around themes of hope, empowerment, and the journey of overcoming fears and challenges. These recurring narratives resonate deeply within her fine art, reflecting a universal human experience.

Lillian’s talent has garnered recognition from prestigious art authorities, motivating her to further develop her unique abilities. She has showcased her work  internationally in London and New York. 

In 2016, Lillian founded the Lillian Gray Art School in South Africa, which now boasts 220 students and hosts a variety of art events. She remains actively involved in writing the school’s art curriculum and also runs a YouTube channel dedicated to teaching art and art history. Additionally, Lillian offers art worksheets and lessons through her Teachers Pay Teachers store.

Mall of Africa’s Art Collective display the best of the best, with 30 talented up-and-coming and established artist’s paintings and sculptures on a variety of subjects that include the subconscious, township life, political and social upheaval, time and hope, and many more.

2019 – White Space – New York – USA

18 April – 12 May

White Space Gallery featured a Pop-up art exhibition consisting of 12 artists from across the globe. The exhibition included the original works of South African artist Lillian Gray. The exhibition opened June 18 and ran through to July 8, 2019 with an opening reception on the Thursday from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists was encouraged to attend.

These small paintings were a part of Lillian’s International Exhibition in South Kensington, London. This was an exciting first step in Lillian’s international journey. The small size of the paintings are perfect for gifts or displaying on a large wall as a part of a collection.

2017 – George Bizo’s 90th birthday Gala Dinner – Johannesburg – South Africa

A celebration of a man whose friendship with Mandela helped to free South Africa from Apartheid, he celebrates our art.

For this auspicious occasion, and in one of her first exhibitions as a full-time artist, Lillian Gray exhibited with up-and-coming artists as well as alongside art legends Penny Siopis, William Kentridge, Clive van den Berg, and Alexandros Fassianos.
