Alba – Alba means ‘birth’. Her halo is larger than Audacia’s and is also more defined; the delicate futuristic markings in her halo show her unique light and suggest that her light is that of the future, whilst the cultural markings on her face suggest a history and a culture which she carries with her. In this sense she is indeed the rebirth, the Renaissance of the future black female identity which consists both of a past and a sense of freedom to be exactly who she is, and in so doing she creates a place where we can be exactly who we are. The use of warmer colours in comparison to those used in Audacia also gives the feeling of birth and less of the heaviness than that of Audacia’s past, Alba also has celebratory splashes of light paint that almost look like wings upon her back. Alba has this expression of divinity on her face, this looks in her eyes that emit confidence in herself that draws the viewer deep into her light and dances around her Mona Lisa-esque smile which holds a mystery which we can never know.
