Collage is so much more than cutting and gluing paper. It’s about making creative choices, discovering surprising connections and bringing seemingly unrelated elements together into something beautiful.

In this immersive 5-hour workshop, you’ll explore the fascinating history of collage and discover how artists have used this versatile medium to challenge conventions and tell compelling visual stories.

Then it’s your turn to experiment!

Through guided demonstrations and hands-on exercises, you’ll learn how to develop a colour story, build a balanced composition, select meaningful imagery and introduce unexpected elements that make your artwork truly original.

You’ll have the freedom to explore your own ideas while learning essential artistic principles that can be applied to painting, drawing and other creative disciplines.

What You’ll Learn

🎨 Create Your Colour Story

Discover how colour influences mood and atmosphere. Using beautiful colour palette cards for inspiration, you’ll explore colour harmonies and learn to select dominant, supporting and accent colours to create a cohesive visual story.

⚖️ Master Composition & Balance

Learn how to arrange visual elements with intention. Explore two approaches to composition: creating a strong focal point that draws the viewer’s eye, or using crystallographic (all-over) balance to distribute visual interest throughout your artwork.

Your Artwork, Your Story

There is no single correct way to create a collage!

You’ll be encouraged to experiment, trust your creative instincts and develop a composition that reflects your own interests and personality.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own original mixed-media artwork, a deeper understanding of colour and composition, and practical creative skills you can use in future artworks.

All materials are provided. Beginners are warmly welcome!
